Steamed Nordic Halibut with Chilli Bean Sauce

Steamed Nordic Halibut with chilli bean sauce on a dinner plate
Steamed, spicy, swift. Done in no time.


  • 400 g halibut fillet
  • 3 tbsp chilli bean paste (can be bought in Chinese grocery stores)
  • 100 ml water
  • 2 cloves garlic – chopped
  • 1 inch ginger – chopped
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 tomatoes – diced
  • 1 red chilli – sliced
  • Salt/pepper/sugar to taste


In a frying pan, heat oil and sweat ginger and garlic until soft
Add chilli bean paste and water; bring to a boil
Add diced tomato and sliced chilli and season to taste
Steam fish for about 3 minutes, remove and discard excess water
Pour sauce over and garnish
